Artist: The Lumineers
Album: A Take Away Show (Live in SF)
Track: Untitled (Unreleased track)
Track of the day #4 : it comes a bit late tonight, but I’ve been quite busy.
It’s an untitled and unreleased (yet) track by The Lumineers that they played this summer in A Take Away Show in San Francisco. I love this band because of the simplicity of its music. When a lot of people see it as a reason to dislike them or slack them, I see in the simplicity of their music some sort of uniqueness. I know it’s really simple stuff that anybody with a music instrument can play but it’s their music’s charm. In a world where everyone is trying to be so innovating and making extremely complex tracks, simple music has become so charming. That’s why I love this band.
Track of the day #3 : Alien Day by MGMT.
To celebrate Record Store day, MGMT make yet another cracker, impressive band indeed. :)

Artist: Arcade Fire
Album: Funeral
Track: Crown of Love
Track of the day #2 : Crown of Love by Arcade Fire. (Posting about the GF put me in a romantic mood)

I’d never thought that one day I would be blogging about romantic feelings and some girl. But this is not “some girl”. In fact, this is not even an ordinary girl.
Actually I don’t know where to start. Each and every detail about her is both extremely important and incredibly fascinating to me.
Going through all the details including how we’ve met, how our relationship evolved would certainly fill out pages, but that’s not the point. I’m just feeling the need to talk about my feelings, in a more public, less “private” way.
Well we’ve been dating for a year and a few months now, and I have certainly never felt that way about anybody else ever before.
A second with her means the world to me. When I feel down, she’s the one thing I feel good about. I can’t find the words to express how much love I feel for that girl. I mean, it’s like beyond the human perception of infinity. She’s just so kind, so warm, so gentle, so sweet and yet so intelligent and remarkably beautiful. I’m aware that it is an overused word, and many times in an overrating way, but she really and literally is WONDERFUL! I mean, she IS full of wonder. It’s beyond human perception.
The love I feel for her is so strong that I even started calling her spontaneously the love of my life. And in fact I’m pretty certain she is. I’ve never been a fan of certitude and seriousness but when it comes to her, each day, all I want is just to grow old with her. My love for her defies my own primary biological cravings for life. I mean, if reducing my life span would mean more time with her, then the idea is more than welcome to me.
I didn’t want to sound overly romantic or even like an OAB, but it is the way I feel and I’m certainly not ashamed of it, and it feels good to just talk about it.
I mean today I’ve seen her for like 15 minutes, which felt like 10 microseconds but certainly made my day.
And the funniest thing about it, is that she always was the “girl who dug me” but for some reason I didn’t dig her too. And when I finally realized what I was missing, I didn’t waste a second to tell her what I was truly feeling and now I’m definitely certain that she’s the greatest, most amazing thing that’s ever happened to me.
To the one that I sincerely cherish and call the love of my life, I adore you! :)

Velociraptor! (Kasbian)
I haven’t written a single review for the last 4 to 5 months so it’s a bit had for me to be facing this blank terrifying white page. I have been listening a lot to Kasabian’s Velociraptor! for the last couple of days and I felt that it was definitely a record that was worth a “come-back” review.
Kasabian has kind of entered the very tight sphere of bands that don’t necessarily need an introduction. Which Indie or Alternative music fan in his own right can say that he doesn’t know or haven’t heard of them ?

Anyhow, Kasabian’s music has been evolving and with Velociraptor! we can definitely see a more concrete and mature version of their Electronic and Psychedelic Rock influence that kind of started with their previous record West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum. But in addition to that fresh approach to their newly found musical influence, we definitely see an interesting Baroque-Pop sound in this record.

It starts with “Let’s Roll Just Like We Used To” which intro is a very weird 47-second sound of a man moaning with horns in the background. The rest of the song is a very classy track, kind of a film soundtrack only more artistically genuine. The song grows really smoothly and everything seems so familiar in it, that amazing 60s pop sound that you can’t really catch but you can’t help but notice it’s there. The highest moment of the record is probably “La Fée Verte” (Which is French for “The Green Fairy”), a really strong track with a Baroque-Popish sound and a very disturbing but quite pleasing Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band feel in it, that’s emphasised with the lyrics “I see Lucy in the Sky …”, and for one moment there, you think it might have been intentional. It’s simply a 6-minute long, soul-driving and mind-blowing piece of art. And that subtle but quite strong Beatles feeling in it makes it only better.

This album’s main strength is probably the band’s boldness. Arabic strings, heavy electronic music influences, classic rock riffs, baroque-pop rhythms all mixed up together is simply amazing. Take for example “I Hear Voices”, it’s gloomy lyrics “My soul you can have it ‘cause it means shit, I said it to the devil ...” along and it’s music, hard to describe … let’s say … it’s like if the Editors were trying to do some Depeche Mode songs their own way. That dark (?) version of synthpop that matches the lyrics so perfectly. Well that song shows how bold but quite efficient Kasabian’s last effort is. But it’s definitely not the only one. “Man Of Simple Pleasures” sounds like if The Kinks wanted to do some Post-Rock while trying to sound like The Rascals. And even if this image is not really appealing to many, the result is simply beautiful, which only makes it more interesting.

Velociraptor! is definitely a record worth a listen and a love at the very first note. Kasabian are offering us their finest effort in an absolutely amazing 50-minute long musical journey. Be people of simple pleasures and enjoy lovely music like this one.
9.5/10

Artist: Kasabian
Album: Velociraptor!
Track: Man Of Simple Pleasures
I’ve been addicted to Kasabian’s new album for the past week, can’t help but listen to it exclusively. Absolutely brilliant. All the tracks are absolutely FANTASTIC, but this is probably my favourite.
